In honor of the release of HIS RISK TO TAKE, Fic-Talk released a top five list for Troy and Ruby. Their top five favorite things about each other ;) See full review here! http://fic-talk.com/2013/05/blog-tour-his-risk-to-take-by-tessa-bailey-reviewed-by-lisa/

Author Tessa Bailey offers a Top 5 list from the view point of Ruby and Troy from His Risk to Take.
My top five favorite things about Troy Bennett
By Ruby Elliott
1) He needs a haircut. I like a guy who doesn’t look like he spent twenty minutes perfecting his hair. Means he doesn’t mind my fingers digging into it.
2) He makes a great omelet. A hot man that cooks…how many guys do you know keep pre-chopped peppers in their fridge, ready to go at a moment’s notice?
3) Those blue eyes. I know when Troy is in the same room with me. I can feel his eyes on me, making me want to do something bad to keep them there.
4) He trusts me. I’m the first to admit I don’t exactly inspire trust in people. After all, I hustle people out of money for a living. But Troy sees more in me.
5) His mouth. Troy knows exactly what he wants. Me. And he doesn’t hold back when telling me exactly how and where he wants me.
My top five favorite things about Ruby Elliott
By Troy Bennett
1) She knows what I’m thinking. Ruby is the most perceptive person I’ve ever met. Sometimes I only have to communicate what I’m thinking with a look.
2) She makes me work for it. I like a challenge. I’ve never had a bigger one than Ruby. She wants to be chased? Game on.
3) Her ass. If you’ve ever seen her bend over a pool table, you’d know what I mean. And if you’re a man who happens to be looking, I’d advise you to stop.
4) Her Loyalty It might get her in trouble with alarming frequency, but if you’ve got Ruby on your side, she’s not going anywhere. No matter how hard you try and get her to see reason.
5) Her smart mouth. She never stops giving me excuses to try and quiet her down. It never works, though. She usually ends up screaming…

I'm so excited about HIS RISK TO TAKE releasing on May 13th! I was SUPER lucky to have the fabulous Cari Quinn read it in advance and give me a cover quote which I read today and literally fist pumped at my desk. All this week, we will be releasing excerpts from the book, then on April 30th, we will reveal the cover! I never would have gotten the chance to write Ruby and Troy's story if so many people hadn't read and enjoyed Protecting What's His since February. The idea now (as I understand it) is to release full length Line of Duty novels every 5-6 months and drop LOD novellas in-between them. Better get busy, yeah?

In the meantime, here are some pictures below of  how I pictured Ruby and Troy as I wrote HIS RISK TO TAKE. Just to give you a little visual as you check out the excerpts ;) I'm not sure who the girl is! Found her on Pinterest and looked everywhere for her name & could not find - but she's almost identical to how I pictured Ruby in my head. And of course, the ri-diculous Henry Cavill is pictured below as my Troy. Yeah...you totally want to read about these two hooking up, right?

In honor of Ginger and Willa's adventure in Protecting What's His, Reading Between The Wines book blog posted my Top 10 Essentials to Take on the Run! See the full post here:

http://readingbetweenthewinesbookclub.blogspot.de/2013/04/tour-protecting-whats-his-by-tessa.html?zx=1e8a6fb83b744877

1. A giant statue of Dolly Parton – Might not be ideal for keeping a low profile, but essential for decorative purposes.

2. Cash – A girls gotta eat!

3. A plan – As well as a PLAN B for when you find yourself living next door to a sharp, young lieutenant determined to find out all your secrets.

4. Inconspicuous transportation – A giant, rusty pick-up truck nicknamed The General…probably not the best idea in this case.

5. Comfortable shoes – Just in case you literally have to run. Cowboy boots will do nicely.

6. The perfect mix tap – Born the be Wild, Born to Run, Take the Money and Run…all good songs to remind you that you’ve just committed a felony.

7. A mouthy little sister – To help you carry the giant Dolly statue and provide much-needed comic relief.

8. One perfect little black dress – Because who knows? A girl on the run just might find herself attending a charity function full of cops.

9. Wine – You’ve just stolen fifty thousand dollars! Bottoms up, girl.

10. Snappy comebacks– The most important thing on this list.

Top 10 Hottest Movie/TV Cops

Below is a guest post I did for the Ex Libris book blog. In honor of Derek in Protecting What's His, I listed my top ten hottest TV/movie cops. In no particular order! See the full post here: http://www.stella-exlibris.com/2013/04/guest-post-by-tessa-bailey-giveaway.html

1. Timothy Olyphant on Justified – Sexy US Marshall who shoots first, ask questions later and throws in witty one-liners where necessary. Bonus points for the Stetson hat.

2. Ryan Kwanten on True Blood – Town player/Good ol’ boy turned deputy. Bonus points for the hot, Louisiana accent.

3. Jon Hamm in The Town – Don Draper with a badge and firepower. Grrr.

4. Chris O’Dowd in Bridesmaids – Funny, Irish-accent, brings you cappuccino in bed. What more do you want? Two of him, perhaps.

5. Brad Pitt in Seven – Poor Gwyneth’ head ends up in a box. But hey, that means he’s single!

6. Matt Damon in The Departed – Boston Accent. Enough said.

7. Will Smith in Bad Boys – Oooh boy.

8. Desmond Harrington on Dexter – He’s dated everyone from the lieutenant to a stripper and can’t seem to find love. It makes you like him even more. Oh, and he’s super hot.

9. Will Ferrell in The Other Guys – Because a sense of humor is the sexiest thing a man can have.

10. Alex O’Loughlin on Hawaii 5-0 – Some people have called him to my attention recently, saying he would be a perfect Derek. I agree – I can definitely see that!

Great review from Lisa @ Fic Talk Blog! 4.5 Stars for PROTECTING WHAT'S HIS

Ginger Peet is a spunky, sassy, and strong young woman who works as a bartender in Nashville. She’s also the best mother-figure that her sister, Willa, has ever had due to the fact that they’re mother was either too busy prostituting herself, using drugs, or disappearing for days on end when they were kids. Never knowing if she was ever coming back, Ginger stepped up to the plate and took care of her little sister even though she herself was a mere child as well. Having to do whatever it took to feed, clothe, take care of her sister, and make sure that her sister was safe from seeing anything that her child’s eyes should never see, made Ginger grow up too fast – and also made her wary and hard to trust men. So when the opportunity to break free of their broken down house and hard life appeared in the form of her mother passed out on the couch with a bag of cash sitting next to her – about fifty grand to be exact – Ginger took the money and her 17 year old sister and left Nashville for a new start and better life. Unknowingly bringing down a whole heap of trouble on her and her sister while she ran.
Lieutenant Derek Tyler is a 30 year old, broody, strait-laced Chicago police officer who does things by the book and doesn’t take crap from anyone. He’s large and in-charge and demands respect from everyone. His life is a little sparse with only his work to fill it up. So when his quiet life is destroyed by the first sounds of two young women using some very colourful language and being loud outside his apartment window on the day of a funeral for a fallen brother, he doesn’t take kindly to the interruption and his first introduction to the girls is definitely a memorable one.
He also doesn’t expect his instant attraction to Ginger and she in turn. But there’s also a side to the Lieutenant – I can’t stop referring to Derek like that and if you read this book you’d know why! – that’s dark and sensual and it’s something that Ginger didn’t think she’d ever be attracted to…
She flashed him her best smile. “Sorry to disturb you, Officer. We didn’t think there’d be anyone at home, being that it’s the middle of the day and all.
“Well, here I am. And it’s Lieutenant.” Ooh, she shoots, she misses.
Wow, how do I put into words how I feel after finishing this book? I am just so blown away by how intense and amazing this it was. I went into it expecting this good romantic read about a Hero cop and a heroine Bartender and I was okay with that, but boy, was I ever wrong.
Derek is a serious, blunt, knows-what-he-wants, sensual, dirty-talking alpha male cop that blew my socks off and left me breathless. I completely adored him even though once or twice I wanted to shake him because of the two times he made the wrong decisions. But the way he spoke to Ginger legit gave me goose bumps and made me shiver. He’s not a swoon-worthy man, he’s a melt-in-a-puddle-make-you-weak-in-the-knees-man. And he and Ginger just burned up the pages for me.
Just like that, she surrendered to him. And it felt fantastic.
One hand slid down her back and palmed her ass, kneading the flesh in a gesture of blatant ownership.
“Be good tonight, Ginger. I’ll know if you’re not.”
Ginger, what can I say about a heroine that I thoroughly respected and admired more than a lot of young heroines that I’ve read about recently? She was Strong and independent and a great sister to Willa. She was fun and real. She did the best that she could with what she had and was always striving to do and be better. She also wasn’t annoying – a damn good thing. Ginger was used to men being attracted to her and knew that she was desirable – not cocky about it – but just realistic. But Ginger just felt that she did not need a man coming into their lives and leaving her the way men did to her mother. The physical she felt that she could handle with Derek but the emotional side was the harder part to deal with. And it was hard to be with Derek and not feel that he was embedding himself deeper into their lives and her heart.
Overall, I loved this book. The writing was great, the story line was entertaining and very intense and emotional. I was engrossed from start to finish! I just couldn’t put it down once I picked it up. I loved the characters and the fact that the author didn’t just allow the romance to overshadow the sisters dynamic that Ginger and Willa had. It felt like a very well-rounded book and you can see that it was well thought out. All the plot lines were dealt with very well – better than I expected, I’ll admit honestly. The only flaws that I found within this book was couple of editing problems. A few sentences read like they were incomplete but it wasn’t too bad or made the book unreadable. It’s just something that I would notice.
Essentially Protecting What’s His is one read that you wouldn’t regret taking a chance on as it has the whole package: fantastic storytelling, emotional intense characters, you will be invested in the book’s characters and their happily ever afters, a bond between sisters that will pull at your heart strings, great writing and a romance that will leave your toes curled and eyes glazed over.
And I don’t normally give such a high rating to many of the erotic romance books that I read. This is what I’d call a diamond in the rough. And author that I will be watching from now on.

I can't reveal TOO much about the plot of PROTECTING WHAT'S HIS before it's release on Monday, February 25th, but I wanted to give readers an idea of how I pictured Derek and Ginger as I wrote the book. In a scene in PWH, I describe Derek as having the physique of a bar room brawler and this picture of a brooding Eric Bateman screamed Derek to me. Because Derek, although young and hot, does like to brood. Next we have my girl, Ginger! I looked for weeks to find someone who fit the image in my head and I didn't find her until last night when this actress, Shelley Hennig, popped up in an episode of Justified (one of my fave TV shows). Just picture her with some cowboy boots on and we've got Ginger :) I hope you guys love the book. I had a fabulous time writing it!
